My Approach to Therapy
I was born and raised in a small Brazilian community where mental health was rarely talked about. Many of the people I loved, friends, relatives and neighbours, carried emotional pain quietly because support was not accessible, affordable, or culturally accepted. Growing up in that environment shaped my understanding of how isolating it can feel when you’re struggling and do not know where to find the support.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years as a teacher supporting children and families facing mental health and behavioural challenges. I saw how overwhelmed parents often felt, and how much courage it took to ask for help, especially for those coming from backgrounds where seeking support was misunderstood or stigmatized.
My own journey includes navigating fertility loss. After three miscarriages, I made the difficult decision to stop trying. That grief changed me in profound ways. It deepened my empathy, softened the way I listen, and strengthened my commitment to supporting clients through their most vulnerable moments.
I also experienced borderline postpartum depression, a period that challenged me emotionally and reshaped my understanding of what it means to struggle quietly while trying to hold everything together. Moving through that experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the complexity of postpartum mental health and the importance of compassionate, non-judgmental support for parents at every stage. These personal, cultural, and professional experiences shape the way I show up as a therapist: warm, steady, and grounded in compassion.

How I Work
My approach to therapy is collaborative, relational, and tailored to each person’s unique needs. I believe healing happens in a space where you feel understood, supported, and free from judgment. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences, reconnect with your strengths, and build the tools you need to move forward.
I work with children, adolescents, adults, parents, and families navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, grief, life transitions, behavioral challenges, parenting overwhelm, and the impact of past experiences.
Modalities I Use
I draw from evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches that support emotional regulation, insight, and meaningful change. These modalities allow me to adapt therapy to what works best for you whether you’re seeking clarity, coping strategies, emotional healing, or a space to process life’s challenges.
These include:
· Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to explore patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours
· Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)–informed strategies for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness.
· Attachment-based and Relational Therapy to support healing through connection and safety.
· Trauma-informed Approaches that honour each person’s pace and lived experience
· Parent coaching and child-focused interventions to strengthen family dynamics and support children’s emotional development
· Culturally sensitive, inclusive care that respects each client’s background, identity, and lived experience
